Getting started
What exactly is Serpworks and how is it different from Fiverr or Upwork?

Serpworks is a specialized marketplace built exclusively for local SEO services. Unlike Fiverr or Upwork, where local SEO is buried among millions of unrelated listings, every freelancer on Serpworks is here specifically for local search work, including Google Business Profile optimization, citation building, local link building, review strategy, and neighborhood-level content. You are not filtering through graphic designers and video editors to find an SEO specialist. Every profile on this platform is local SEO focused

No technical knowledge is required. You describe your business, your city, and your goal, whether that is more calls, more foot traffic, or higher Google Maps rankings, and the freelancer handles everything from there. If you do not know what schema markup, NAP consistency, or citation audits mean, that is precisely why Serpworks exists. The platform is designed so local business owners can hire specialists without needing to become one themselves.

Serpworks primarily serves local businesses operating worldwide and connects them with expert local SEO specialists who understand region-specific search behavior, localized Google Business Profile optimization, and proximity-based ranking factors for international markets. If you operate a local business in any specific city, region, or service area across the globe, Serpworks freelancers can build the exact localized signals and geographic authority required to dominate your target market.

For Buyers

Each freelancer profile shows their verified service areas, industry experience, and documented client results. Use the search filters to narrow by your city, your business type, and your budget. For highly competitive regional hubs and major metropolitan markets globally, look specifically for freelancers who list your specific metro area or province as a primary service zone. A freelancer claiming global coverage without documented local results in your specific target market is a red flag worth noting before you hire.

For most single-location businesses, the first meaningful shift in local keyword rankings and Google Business Profile impressions happens between months 3 and 6 of consistent work. Sustained top-three Map Pack positioning in competitive city markets typically requires 6 to 12 months. Any freelancer promising page-one rankings in two weeks is not giving you an honest timeline. On Serpworks, freelancers set clear monthly deliverables and share documented progress reports so you can track exactly what is moving.

Serpworks uses a milestone-based payment structure. You fund a milestone upfront but the money is held in escrow and only released to the freelancer after you review and approve the deliverable. If the work does not meet the agreed scope, you raise a dispute through the platform before any funds are released. This is structurally different from paying an agency a monthly retainer regardless of whether results are delivered.

Yes. Serpworks supports both one-time project contracts and ongoing monthly retainer arrangements. For local SEO specifically, a retainer model is strongly recommended because rankings require continuous monthly maintenance including GBP updates, citation monitoring, review management, and local content publishing. You can set up recurring milestones directly in the platform without renegotiating a new contract each month.

For Freelancers

New freelancers can start on the Free plan, which gives you 10 Bids per month to submit proposals to employers. Once you land your first few clients and build reviews on your profile, upgrading to the Business plan at $20 per month gives you 50 Bids per month and reduces the platform job fee from 9% to 6% on every paid invoice. The Enterprise plan at $40 per month further reduces the job fee to 5% and increases your Search Boost visibility, which is worthwhile once you are handling consistent client volume.

Three factors drive your visibility within Serpworks search: profile completeness, service area specificity, and review recency. A profile listing a specific city and a specific industry niche such as Houston plumber SEO with documented case studies and recent client reviews, consistently outperforms a generic profile claiming to handle all local SEO everywhere. The platform rewards specificity. Narrow your listed service areas to your strongest markets and define your industry focus clearly rather than listing every possible category.

Both solo freelancers and small agency teams can create profiles on Serpworks. If you are an agency, you register under your business name and assign team members to individual projects. The core requirement is that the specialist listed as the primary contact must be the person directly executing the local SEO work. Serpworks does not permit undisclosed subcontracting or white-labeling arrangements where the buyer believes they are working with one person, but the actual work is being passed to another party without their knowledge.

Payments and Platform

All payments on Serpworks are processed through encrypted payment infrastructure and held in escrow until milestones are reviewed and approved by the buyer. You are never asked to pay a freelancer directly outside the platform. Supported payment methods include major credit and debit cards. Funds are released to the freelancer only after you confirm the deliverable meets the agreed scope, which means your money is protected throughout every stage of the project.

No. Serpworks does not charge buyers any commission or hidden fees on top of the negotiated price. Posting jobs on the platform is completely free for business owners. Instead, a flat 20% commission is deducted from the freelancer’s side only after the order is successfully completed. Freelancers must maintain an active platform membership to apply for jobs, but as a buyer, the rate you negotiate directly with the freelancer is exactly what you pay.
